Catamount football is back in Cullowhee as the Cats host the Wildcats for the season opener on Saturday, Sept. 9.

Western Carolina football fans are eager for  the Cats first home game. The Catamounts look to bounce back after a tough loss to Hawaii last week while Davidson looks to add another win to the column. After a long wait, fans are excited to see their Cats back in action and are hopeful for a better season this year.

“I have been waiting for football ever since the season ended last year. I’m calling a Catamount blowout win,” said senior Nate Hedrick.

Saturday will be a Black Out game and students are encouraged to wear all black. If you don’t have a black shirt- no problem. The first 5,000 people will all receive a black Western Carolina shirt. Also, the annual freshman run will take place before the game. After the game, stick around for the fireworks which are sure to be a spectacle.

Let’s pack the stadium and get rowdy to show support for our Cats this weekend.
The game starts 6 p.m. on Saturday at E.J. Whitmire Stadium.
