Western Carolina University’s School of Stage & Screen opens its Mainstage Season by bringing pop art to life on stage in the new soulful musical, “Pop! Who Shot Andy Warhol?”

The production will run from October 1 to 3 with show times at 7:30 p.m.. On Oct 3 there will be a additional 3:00 p.m. showing in Hoey Auditorium on Western Carolina’s campus.

Tickets are $21 for adults, $16 for seniors and WCU Faculty and Staff and $7 for WCU students. Tickets can be purchased by calling or visiting the Bardo Arts Center in person or online.

The musical is directed by Claire Eye and will be performed by WCU musical theater students.

Logan Marks is a junior at Western Carolina and is cast as the pretty boy poet and detective, Gerard Malanga, in the musical.

“The show is brand new so it’s very exciting to watch how it unfolds. It’s definitely meant for mature audiences.,” Marks said hinting that the show is not intended for children.

Marks says he’s excited for audiences to see the show.

“It’s exciting because there are only 7 people in the cast and the set is just the stage. We barely leave the stage and if we do it’s for a quick change.”

Theater enthusiast have plenty to look forward to as this Mainstage Season works to produce “Macbeth is the New Black”, “Blithe Spirit” and closes the season with the musical “Gypsy”.
