‘Ready, Set, Blow’ with Jackson County Green Energy Park

Jackson County Green Energy Park (JCGEP) will host an artist open house competition from 2 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 11.

“The artist open house competition is an incentive to get the artists out to the JCGEP and experience our brand of studios,” said Timm Muth, director of JCGEP.

JCGEP is searching for artists that have experience in glass blowing and metal forging to compete for Best Piece. Artists will have a 30-minute time slot to create their competition piece. The winners from both categories will receive 10 free studio hours at the park.JCGEP_Artist_Open_House_Flyer_Final

“Experienced artists who want to attend the open house, but do not want to compete, are welcome to come try the studios free of charge,” said Muth.

The JCGEP will provide all materials needed for the competition. There is no entry fee. Interested parties should RSVP to 828-631-0271 to reserve their space; walk ins are welcome to the next available time slot.

The JCGEP features one of the nation’s only green energy art studios that are powered by methane from the neighboring landfill.

The park also has a metal forging studio, glass blowing studio, pottery kilns and many green houses. It is a project of Jackson County and is designed to help increase economic development in the region.
