Greening Up the Mountains, Sylva’s free festival marking the start of spring, will be hitting Main street tomorrow, April 27. This will mark the 17th annual celebration of the event. It will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., featuring local crafts, vendors, artists, and music.

Many of the attending vendors will be locally owned businesses such as Jack the Dipper, Soul Infusion Tea House & Bistro, Jackson Paper Manufacturing, Kathy’s Garden Herbals, and Survival Pride Clothing, to name just a few of the booths that will be found. There will also be fourteen different bands performing throughout the day, all of them local musicians. These will be visible on two stages, and a third stage will host young Jackson County performers.

A few competitions will be taking place as well, such as the usual “superhero costume contest” and a poetry contest hosted by City Lights Bookstore. Festival goers can also participate in a 5k race.
