Cats bounce back from frustrating Whee-kend

Junior Jeremy Null and Catamounts hope to improve 9-3 SoCon record this weekend.

Junior Jeremy Null and Catamounts hope to improve 9-3 SoCon record this weekend.

After a few tough outings against a struggling Furman team (13-23, 4-8 SoCon) during WCU’s Spring Fling Whee-kend, the Cats didn’t seem to mind getting away from the usually friendly confines of Hennon Stadium for a while.
The Cats responded to dropping the three-game weekend series by defeating Winthrop yesterday in Rock Hill, S.C.

The Eagles did not go quietly, however.  The game went 13 innings before the Catamounts pulled away for good, winning 9-6.

The win has the Cats sitting pretty again with an overall record of 24-11.

They hope for another victory tonight in Knoxville as they face the Tennessee Volunteers (23-11) at 6 p.m.

The boys will be back in town this weekend to face The Citadel Bulldogs (14-23, 2-13 SoCon) in a three-game conference series.
