Fine Arts Museum starts the season with new exhibit

The Fine Arts Museum will reopen its doors on Thursday, Jan. 16, to welcome an exhibit by Edward J. Bisese.

The event will begin with an Artist Talk at 5 p.m., followed by a reception in the atrium at 6 p.m. This will launch a three month long showcase of Bisese’s art which will end on March 28. All three events are free and open to the public.

Currently residing in College Park, Md., Bisese has always had an interest in the odd and the macabre, which he brings to life in vivid color on canvas, wood, paper, vinyl, and various other mediums. His work is known for portraying both real events and altered realities, often appearing almost dream-like in nature. Visitors will see humanoid bunnies, bear-faced self-portraits, and people who are half-men half-elephant, among other grotesque and imaginative works.

WCU’s Fine Art Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays, though hours are extended to 7 p.m. on Thursdays. Museum admission and parking are always free. For more information, contact 828-227-3951 or visit fineartsmuseum.wcu.edu.
