Bardo applying for President of Wichita State University

Former Chancellor of Western Carolina University, John Bardo, is not really ready to retire. According to Wichita State University’s (WSU) website, Bardo is one of five  presidential finalists. Bardo visited WSU on April 17. The Wichita Eagle reports that Bardo said this is the only position he has applied for.

“If he becomes the next WSU president, Bardo said, he will focus much of his attention on the marketing of the university and the recruitment of minority students,” writes the newspaper.

The current WSU president, Dr. Donald Beggs, is stepping down after 13 years of leading the university.

WSU is a NCAA Division I public university in Wichita, Kan. with selective admissions. It is one of six state universities governed by the Kansas Board of Regents.

Bardo is still on WCU payroll and was planning to return teaching next semester.
