Dillsboro lights up WNC holiday season

The first two weekends in December the town of Dillsboro will be hosting their 28thannual Festival of Lights and Luminaries.  The town will be lit with over 2,500 candles around their shops and studios.  The shopkeepers provide hot cocoa, holiday treats and live entertainment.  Horse and buggy rides will be available each night from 5 to – 8 p.m.  Children can visit Santa at the Town Hall.

Festival of Lights

The first day of the festival, Dec. 2, is “WCU Night.”  Chancellor Belcher and his wife will officially open the event at 6 p.m. arriving in a horse drawn carriage.  Students can bring their Cat Cards for special discounts in stores as well as participate in a raffle drawing.  A portion of the sales will be donated to CARE, and organization fighting poverty.

WCU is offering a round-trip shuttle from the University Center on WCU’s campus beginning at 5 p.m., leaving every half an hour until 7:30.  Shuttles will be returning passengers starting at 7 and ending at 9:30 p.m.
