Freshman Christina White scored her first career goal and the winning goal for Western Carolina in the first half and the Catamounts never looked back in a game where the winner would advance to the Southern Conference Tournament and the loser’s season would be eliminated.

Attendance was great for the Catamounts on the night, as the stands were packed to see if the soccer team could keep their season alive.

“Crowd was good, team was good, and nothing was going to stop us from getting this victory,” said TJ Eaves, a senior at WCU and who is also the student government president for the Catamounts.

The Catamount fans backed the team the whole night and remained loud throughout the game.  The soccer team didn’t disappoint and managed to hold off the Mountaineers to secure the eighth and final spot in the tournament.

Western Carolina finished the regular season with a 9-9-1 (4-7 SoCon) record and hopes to make some noise in the SoCon tourney.
