Homecoming weekend for the Western Carolina Catamounts was spoiled on Saturday by the Citadel as the Bulldogs took home the victory at E.J. Whitmire stadium, 35-7.

The Catamounts faced their third triple-option offense of the season and had no answer for it.  Four Bulldog rushers found the end zone on the day in a game that was never really in question from the get-go.

Western Carolina head coach, Dennis Wagner made a quarterback change before the game going with senior, Zac Brindise over sophomore, Brandon Pechloff to hopefully spark the offense.  The move did not however, and the Catamount offense managed only 236 total yards on the day and failed to rush for over a 100 yards.

The Catamounts only touchdown came with 1:23 left in the game when Brindise found a streaking Garrett Brown for a 61-yard touchdown.

Western Carolina now trails the all-time series with the Bulldogs, 15-20-1. The Catamounts fall to 1-6 on the season and travel to Birmingham, Alabama next week to take on Samford.

Homecoming notes: Hannah Marie Blanton and Christopher Adam Ray were named the Homecoming Queen and King.

Western Carolina alum and Big Brother season 13 winner, Rachel Reilly was in attendance for the game.
