Whether you have experience with canoeing or not, join Western Carolina University’s Base Camp Cullowhee and the Parks and Recreation students to race along the Tuckasegee River on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011 at 9 a.m.

Students, staff, families, and kids are all welcome to watch or race near the bridge on Old Cullowhee Road on the back side of WCU’s campus.  Practice for the races begin on Friday evening.

To participate in the race you need to register with Base Camp Cullowhee on WCU’s campus by Thursday, September 7, 2011.  The entry fee is $5 per competitor.  The proceeds will go towards funding the river park.

Canoes, paddles, and life vests are provided for all participants or bring your own paddle board or kayak to race.
