Other health care options come to Sylva

A MedWest Urgent Care clinic is coming to Sylva this summer.

MedWest Health System is opening an urgent care clinic in the Wal-Mart Plaza shopping center this August.  It is planned to replace the Rent-A-Center that is in the location currently.

The clinic will offer less expensive walk-in examinations for people who do not need immediate medical attention and have non-emergency illnesses or injuries.

After the renovations are complete, there will be eight examination rooms, x-ray equipment and full lab services.  At this time they are planning to be open Monday through Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

There are no other urgent care clinics in Sylva, or west of Waynesville.  MedWest chose the location because it is in a busy area between Western Carolina University and Harris Regional Hospital.

Rent-A-Center is scheduled to relocate by May 1 and shortly after is when the renovations will begin.
