National Signing Day: Springing towards the Fall

Groundhog’s Day 2011 informed the country of an early spring. College football fans also got the reminder that spring is in the air due to National Signing Day.

Fans watch the 10-hour coverage to glimpse at the young talent being transferred to their favorite teams. High schools across the nation host coaches and families to capture the ink that will change the lives of their star athletes.

Signing day is normally a good preview of how a college team is to perform in the upcoming four years. All of the home visits, games, and film hopefully pay off for the coaches and athletic directors across the country.

According to ESPN, This signing day the South Eastern Conference flexes the recruiting muscle and claims five of the top 15 recruiting classes. ACC Florida State rules the chart with one five-star commitment and 16 four-star commitments. Reigning national champion Auburn sits at second with two five-star commitments and 14 four-star commitments.

The 2011 season kicks off September 3.
