WCU holds Martin Luther King Jr. poetry slam

Western Carolina University held a poetry slam in honor of Martin Luther King Week on Friday, January 21.

The event was in the Courtyard Dining Hall on WCU’s campus. Students recited their poetry that shared a theme of equality and human rights.

This year is Martin Luther King Jr.’s 82 birthday as well as the 25 anniversary for the federal holiday. Each student brought a different message to the room through their poems. See the video for more of the poetry slam.
